Shidu
Just an hour south of Beijing are beautiful limestone karst formations. Unfortunately, like everything else beautiful in China, they have become overdeveloped tourist destinations.          You can see more photos on my flickr page.

Great Leap's Brew Space in Huairou County
Tim and I headed to Huairou County, a small community about an hour northeast of Beijing near a dilapidated portion of the Great Wall to take photos of Great Leap’s brewing space for the Wall Street Journal.

Night Cat
Found this kitty watching over the neighborhood one night. Notice the Redbull to its side. Must be a long shift.

Kro's Nest Pizza
These photos were taken at the newest location in Sanyuanqiao.  View of the main floor taken on the second floor. Haining and Josh. View from my seat. Alex and Frances discussing their options. Table sized pizza. Believe it or not this is not the largest size and the individual beers are about the same size as a pitcher.  I over-ate. No surprise.  Tim in B+W.

getting out of the house
Tim and I spent the afternoon at 西海 (xīhǎi) West Lake reading and watching Chinese guys play cards and fish.

baked goods in China
Baking isn’t a Chinese thing. Traditionally, breads in China are steamed, pan-fried or deep fried. So, I shouldn’t be surprised or sad that the “baguettes” tastes like crappy grocery store Italian bread. But I am. Always.  Tim and I waiting outside of Tous Les Jours in Wudaokou. Unsatisfactory “donut” at Tous Les Jours To be honest, I’m not sure...

around home
The entrance way to my house is cluttered with bicycles, hanging clothing and stray cats. I took these photos mainly because I realized that although I walk through it everyday, I rarely pay attention to how interesting it really is.

stumptown
During my visit to the US this summer I spent a lot of time loitering mostly at Stumptown, which explains why I have so many pictures from the cafes. Here are some more and I apologize that all these photos are so late! There will be China pictures up very soon!

vashon island
Colin and I spent two nights with Frances and Alex at Alex’s beautiful home (built by his stepdad) on Vashon Island.  Two great nights spent with good friends, beers and burgers.
